To Be Honest...

It's apparently 4 degrees celcius today, so it could be a lot colder, but what I would give just to hear the sound of a lawnmower today. Yes, I've had quite enough of winter... but I thing that I have said that numerous times haven't I !

But, I really, really am!!

*Go Outside and Play

Do you even remember how to do that? Pretend that you are a little girl again and simply go outside and do something just for the sheer pleasure of it. I don't know when we stopped "playing", but it used to be such an important part of our daily lives. And you wonder why we don't laugh as often as we used to! That just might explain it. And the extra calories burned can't hurt either.  And today we have all of that fresh snow, so... we might as well take advantage of it!

Early Spring Color

"When the winter cold seems like it will never end, we begin to notice that our days are getting longer and the sun is sitting a little higher in the sky. It is around this time each year that I start walking through my garden to see if anything is beginning to peep up through the snow and frozen soil; it is so exciting to find a little bit of green amid the brown tones of winter. Many times, I will find snowdrops blooming; their little white heads bobbing away in the breeze, even when there is snow on the ground. Definitely a sign that spring is near."

Well, I certainly can't wait. Winter seems to hanging on a little longer than usual this year. Bring on the spring!

Show Me Yours

"Show me your garden and I shall tell you what you are."

Alfred Austin

At the moment, that might be a little scary. It's a ton of mud (new house) with a few inches of snow on top. I wonder what that would say about me?

Okay, I'm Game...

I was talking to a friend today and she was talking about how gorgeous a winter garden can be. Well, I'm at a loss here. My yard is covered with snow and there's not that much that is gorgeous about it. Maybe I'm looking at this all wrong.

What can I do to my garden to make it gorgeous during the winter months. Whatever it is... I'm game!

I Really Can't See it Today

I thought that we had a lot of snow yesterday! Well, it hasn't stopped snowing all day and can't believe I'm saying this, but our backyard actually looks gorgeous. It's all so clean and white and fresh. I have to be nuts. There's no other excuse for it. Nobody can think that snow is that pretty!

I Saw My Garden Yesterday!

I sure can't see it today. Once again it's under a nice covering of snow and I'm not liking it much. On the other hand, it is covering up all that mud that was visible. Oh the joys of living in a brand new subdivision. It's mud... everywhere!

A Sad Time for Gardeners

Sometimes a nice garden is buried under heaps of snow... so all you can do is keep your driveway freshly shoveled. Now how sad is that for someone who is itching to get out into all that dirt! I really do dislike winter!

Perfectly Normal Gardening Mistakes

Do you sometimes find yourself trying too hard to create that perfect garden? I have definitely been there but stopped beating myself up when it didn't work out thanks to a gardening program that I was watching. The expert said that she constantly moved plants around that didn't work in the first location. I guess my mistakes were perfectly normal!
